Valentine's Trail, which connects the tourist farms of Stari vrh, was once considered a pleasant way to make the leisure time of guests who enjoyed a well-deserved vacation here more interesting. Today, of course, it is intended for everyone, as it is considered a shorter and easier trail, and on this wonderful adventure you can see various natural beauties of Stari vrh and visit numerous farms, where friendly locals await you.
The starting point of the trail is in the parking lot of the lower station of the chairlift. Shortly after the start, you come to a crossroads where you decide on the direction of the trail. The recommended trail is marked with signposts, otherwise the trail is marked like all others, in both directions. If you decide to take the right one (recommended direction), first follow the trail along the Valentine ski slope, where you come to the main road right at the boundary of the Gorenja vas – Poljane and Škofja Loka Municipalities. Here, go along the main road under the bridge to the military road, where at the water reservoir used to make artificial snow turn right and reach a forest path that leads to the main road at the Kopa draglift. If you decide to take the path through the village of Zapreval, continue straight at the water reservoir along the macadam road and when you reach the main road, turn left past the Žgajnar Tourist Farm (Turizem na kmetiji Žgajnar). Follow the asphalt road to the Kopa draglift, where you turn right at the Hribovšek Farmstead, and then turn left onto a forest road that takes you to Grebljica. Continue to the right, along the road, cross the six-seater chairlift and soon the signs direct you to the left to a meadow path, where you make a small ascent through the forest to the junction of the Valentine’s Trail, the Hunters’ Trail and the Path between the Mountains. Turn left towards the Stari vrh Restaurant and Guest House (Gostišče Stari vrh), where you can take a short break. After the break, descend along the asphalt road to Grebljica, where you turn right onto a forest path and descend towards the village of Četena Ravan, where the ancient St. Bricius’ Church with a newly restored altar awaits you. Continue ahead to the village, where you turn left at the Tavčar Tourist Farm. Continue past the Davčen Tourist Farm and the Ožbet Tourist Farm, from where you descend along a field and forest path to the main road above the village of Mlaka. Continue along the road through the village of Mlaka past the Jejlar Farmstead, where the film Blossoms in Autumn (Cvetje v jeseni) was shot in the famous old house, to the village of Jarčje Brdo, where the mighty Church of St. Valentine appears before you. At the church, turn left onto a forest road, where you soon come to a crossroads, and continue to the parking lot.
Every year, on 31 October, a guided hike is organized, starting at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at the lower station of the six-seater chairlift at the Stari vrh Ski Resort.
